WhatsApp is without any doubt the most widely used instant messaging service. With almost a billion users and millions of monthly active users, user privacy is the key element here.Today whatsApp announced the end-to-end encryption service. WhatsApp posted an article on their blog quoting “From now on when you and your contacts use the latest version of the app, every call you make, and every message, photo, video, file, and voice message you send, is end-to-end encrypted by default, including group chats.”
WhatsApp started encrypting text message from November 2014 this service is now extended to Voice calls, Video,Photos, and group messages. If you have updated the WhatsApp application on your Android or iOS device, it will show you the notification “Messgae you send to this chat and calls are now secured with end-to-end encryption.”
The level of the encryption and it is immunity to hackers is not yet known, but it is good to see companies like WhatsApp taking initiative to protect the user data.
