PS4 Pro’s new firmware update is bringing the new ‘Boost Mode’ to the console. This new mode is currently in the beta stage and comes as a part of the 4.50 update. It is only available on Playstation 4 Pro consoles that mean it won’t appear on the regular PS4 units. If you have a PS4 and upgraded to the 4.50 firmware then you’ll find a new “Boost Mode” option in the settings menu. So what is this new Boost Mode?
According to Sony, activating the boost mode will let the PS4 Pro run at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed. It will improve the gameplay performance of the older games launched before the PS4 Pro. Boost Mode will allow some older games to run at a much higher frame rates.
It is good to see Sony providing more options to the PS4 Pro owners. This new firmware update brings redesigned menu, 3D Blu-ray support to PSVR and external hard drive support to all PS4 models.
Stay tuned for the updates.
