Some Pixel owners are facing the broken microphones issue, apparently, this issue has been known for several months now. Google has officially acknowledged this problem saying, ” We are aware of no software issues causing issues with the mic. All the cases we’ve investigated have been the result of a hardware problem, requiring replacement of the device.”
According to Google, less than one percent of Pixel devices are affected by this problem. Google announced they will be replacing all the defective smartphones. The main cause of the problem is a hairline crack in the solder connection of the audio codec, which causes all the microphones to stop working at once.
Google is currently analyzing this issue and promises to take additional steps to make sure the refurbished phones won’t have this mic problem. You can read the full thread on Google’s official forum.
Stay tuned for the updates.
