Earlier this month Sony released the 4.50 firmware update for the PlayStation 4 units. The update was supposed to improve the gameplay performance. Apparently, this recent update left some PS4 users with the broken Wi-Fi connection.
This issue was first reported on the official PlayStation forum when a user who goes by the name ‘Monster Hunter’ posted the issue saying, I Updated my PS4 this morning and after the update, it cannot connect to Wi-Fi. It comes up with error NW-31297-2 that my password might be wrong but I’m pretty sure the password is correct, my Internet connection works well on other devices so I don’t get what is the problem here.”
Moments later some more players replied to the thread saying they all are facing the same problem. JasonPrawn said since updating to 4.50, he is also facing the exact same issue.
“I have tried, resetting router and ps4, changing the router channel to avoid traffic, changing the WPA password for my internet. None of that worked. I removed the password protection for my internet and it connected fine but I cannot allow my internet to be unprotected just so my ps4 will connect. If Sony would please address this issue ASAP that would be great – i feel they have a tendency to avoid dealing with these problems.”
Sony has finally acknowledged the problem and is reportedly working on the solution.
