The tech publisher TechnoBuffalo has leaked the first promotional photographs of what looks like the new Moto Z2 Play. The Z2 Play will be a successor to the last year’s battery powerhouse, the Moto Z Play.
Last year Motorola launched the Moto Z Play, the company’s take on the modular smartphones. The Moto Z Play featured a magnetic connector at the back for modular functionality. It came with the swappable magnetic back covers, Motorola is calling them “Moto Mods”. Motorola has designed these back panels in partnership with various popular manufacturers including JBL, Hasselblad, and Incipio, these Mods allows you to attach either a power bank, speakers, camera module or a tiny projector to your smartphone with many third party mods coming soon.
According to the leaked image, The Z2 Play seems to have the same design philosophy as the Z Play with the slight modifications in the home button. It features the same magnetic back connector we saw on the original Moto Z Play which means the current generation Moto Mods are also supported with Z2 Play.
Motorola hasn’t released any official statements yet. The promo image displays a date of June 8th in the clock widget which might suggest the official announcement could be coming soon.
Stay tuned for the updates.
